Your First Week
This guide takes you day by day through key activities to get Arlo running on your farm. By the end of the week, you’ll have all basic modules working with real data captured.
Day 1: Foundations
Section titled “Day 1: Foundations”Morning: Farm Setup
Section titled “Morning: Farm Setup”- Verify lots are correctly loaded
- Confirm timezone and currency
- Set field cycle duration (recommended: 15 days)
Afternoon: Basic Team
Section titled “Afternoon: Basic Team”- Invite at least 1 additional administrator
- Create accounts for field monitors
- Share credentials with the team
Day 2: Sanitation Module
Section titled “Day 2: Sanitation Module”Initial Setup
Section titled “Initial Setup”- Go to Sanitation → Monitors and register your inspectors
- Go to Sanitation → Forms and create your first inspection form
Create Your First Form
Section titled “Create Your First Form”- Click Add Form
- Give it a descriptive name (e.g., “Pest Monitoring - Citrus”)
- Add fields for the pests/diseases you want to monitor
- Define alerts with critical thresholds
Quick alternative: Use the AI Assistant to generate a form based on your crop and common pests in your region.
Schedule First Route
Section titled “Schedule First Route”- Go to Sanitation → Calendar
- Click on a date this week
- Select the form, monitor, and lots to inspect
- Save the route
Day 3: First Field Inspection
Section titled “Day 3: First Field Inspection”Preparation
Section titled “Preparation”- Monitor downloads app or accesses web launcher
- Download forms for offline work
- Verify device GPS is active
Execution
Section titled “Execution”- Monitor opens the assigned route
- Navigates to each lot following the form
- Records observations, counts, and photos
- When finished, syncs the data
Review
Section titled “Review”- Verify route appears as “Completed” in calendar
- Review results in Route Analysis
- Read AI summary to understand main findings
Day 4: Field Tasks Module
Section titled “Day 4: Field Tasks Module”- Go to Field Tasks → Contractors and register your contractors
- Go to Field Tasks → Field Tasks and create the task catalog
Create Task Catalog
Section titled “Create Task Catalog”For each type of work you perform:
- Task name (e.g., “Formation pruning”)
- Unit of measure (trees, meters, hectares)
- Default price
Start First Field Cycle
Section titled “Start First Field Cycle”- Go to Field Tasks → Field Cycles
- Click Create Cycle
- Select start date (today)
- End date will be calculated automatically
- Add tasks to the cycle with assigned contractors and lots
Day 5: Work Logging
Section titled “Day 5: Work Logging”Capture Execution Logs
Section titled “Capture Execution Logs”As work progresses in the field:
- Open the active field cycle
- Select a task
- Click Add Log
- Record: date, completed units, notes
Monitor Progress
Section titled “Monitor Progress”- Progress percentage updates automatically
- Task statuses change based on progress
- Compare budgeted vs. actual cost in real-time
Day 6: Supplies Module
Section titled “Day 6: Supplies Module”Basic Setup
Section titled “Basic Setup”- Go to Supplies → Configuration and create warehouses
- Go to Supplies → Providers and register providers
- Go to Supplies → Catalog and create inventory items
Record First Entry
Section titled “Record First Entry”- Go to Supplies → Entries
- Click New Entry
- Select provider, warehouse, and product
- Enter quantity and cost
- Save the entry
Record First Exit
Section titled “Record First Exit”- Go to Supplies → Exits
- Create an exit linked to a field task (optional)
- Select products and quantities
- System will update inventory automatically
Day 7: Review and Next Steps
Section titled “Day 7: Review and Next Steps”Verify Everything Works
Section titled “Verify Everything Works”- At least one sanitation route completed and analyzed
- A field cycle with tasks and logged work
- Inventory with at least one entry and one exit
- Team familiar with their assigned modules
Review First Reports
Section titled “Review First Reports”- Sanitation: Go to Analytical Reports to see trends
- Field Tasks: Review cycle summary to see costs
- Supplies: Check inventory balances by warehouse
Plan Week 2
Section titled “Plan Week 2”With foundations in place, next week focus on:
- Establish sanitation routine: Schedule consistent weekly routes
- Complete field cycle: Log all work until closure
- Configure harvest module (if applicable to the season)
- Explore advanced reports: Sanitation maps, cost analysis
